Folding & FUNdraising

In the weeks leading up to and after this special event we will be striving to reach Rev. Hayashi's goal of folding 1000 cranes! The finished cranes will be strung and on display in the temple through the end of the year.

Ekoji member and past co-President, Joran Stegner, will be on hand during this event to demonstrate the crane folding process and answer any questions you have about the art of origami. You can watch a time-lapse of him folding a crane here:

and download printable instructions here:

While folding, Rev. Hayashi, encourages us to reflect upon what has transpired over the last year and the many lives lost. The collection of cranes will represent the Sangha's love, hope, and compassion.

This is a FUNdraiser for EKOJI so all folders will be asked to solicit pledges based upon the number of cranes they fold or collect flat donations for their participation. The goal is to fold 1000 cranes and raise $10,000 to help offset the loss from cancelling our Obon festival in 2021.

REMEMBER DANA IS SELFLESS GIVING AND

IT'S THE EFFORT THAT IS THE REWARD!

In the weeks leading up to and after the event, there will be a folding station located in the lobby of the temple stocked with origami paper and instructions on how to fold the cranes.

Completed cranes and donations can be delivered on Sunday to this station. Checks should be made payable to Ekoji Buddhist Temple. Donations can also be made via Paypal. Click here to contribute today
